October 18th marks the one year Anniversary of Turnipofpower.com. Since then I’ve expanded my stable of blogs to 4 domains. All my other blogs are still young and contribute little income other than the occasional AdSense click, It’s been a very long time since I’ve posted any kind of affiliate earnings on the site. So here are my January 1, 2008 to October 10, 2008 earnings. Total Earnings: $2830.18
| Affiliate | Amount |
| Amazon |
$33.80 |
| eBay! |
$15.37 |
| Adtoll | $0.39 |
| Clickbooth | $203.75 |
| Pepperjam | $35.25 |
| PerformancingAds | $103.75 |
| Review Me |
$282.50 |
| Shareasale | $168.99 |
| Sponsored Reviews | $43.55 |
| Commission Junction | $786.68 |
| Bluehost |
$130.00 |
| Private Entrecard Credit Sales | $538.99 |
| Google Adsense | $220.71 |
| Konterra | $5.61 |
| BuyBlogReviews | $7.00 |
| Blogrolled | $2.16 |
| Web Consulting Services | $132.37 |
| Private Ad Sales | $18.75 |
| Project Wonderful | $100.56 |
Left off the list are deadbeat companies that didn’t pay and companies I never promoted that earned almost nothing. In addition, I have like 180,000 almost worthless Entrecard credits I haven’t sold. Much like Nvidia stock, I’ll save them until the economy improves. Not too bad for a blog less than one year old that gets primarily social traffic. Unlike some other marketing sites, they are actual payments. Not site owners putting a $100 price tag on their banner spot, then trading that spot with another marketer and claiming they earned $100.

Congrats for the great achievement. I’m still learning.
Grats on your upcoming one year anniversary. And thank you for sharing this. I enjoy seeing what other people are already accomplishing, because it gives a someone like myself a little encouragement and hope that it’s not impossible to do at all.
I haven’t even heard of some of these programs before. Now I have a few things to bookmark and keep in mind for the future. Cheers.
Hi,

I’m jealous, eventhough my site is only about 4 months, I don’t think I’ll ever earn money… I think I give up on it. Right now I am running Commission Junction only on my site and I doubt that will ever work for me… I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong, if I have the wrong traffic or what but no ads seem to even earn me a cent. I had adsense and I got at most $5 from them and I would have kept them had the ads not stop showing on my site. How many months in did it take you to earn money with this blog if you don’t mind me asking??
Good for you on making money on your blog. Hey, I bet you could buy some ad time on my blog using some of those EC credits. My ads are set up to take $$ or EC credits. Heck, I think EC credits are worth more right now than the US dollar, don’t you think? LOL
Carol: If it’s oio publisher, I’ll take a look. If it’s just Entrecard I don’t know. Advertising my blog on another blog, which already gets the same trafic as my blog, is why Entrecard doesn’t work as an advertising medium. I’ve been to your blog many times, and I like your blog. These days I have two choices. I can give you 1000 credits, run a useless ad, and and you receive 25% of the credits. The other choice is to just give you 1000cr, and you receive 87.5% of them.
Phone Girl: I started making money immediately, as it was the Christmas season and that was the time of year people buy. Then sales slowed dramatically after Christmas, so I switched revenue models. Not every site is going to earn money the same way another site earns money. Look at your visitors. What do they want and why did they come to your site?
LOL!! I never thought about this one! It’s more or less similar to those e-books giveaways “worth $9,997.00″ (I’m guilty of that)
This article should be required reading for every owner of a blog on the internet. I am not kidding.
Hello big spender! Nice to see some quantifying results of your knowledge. I mean, I know you knew you what you were talking about but its always nice to see the results.
Nice job Turnip.
Thanks Fragile: This post isn’t meant to be a bragging post, but I do promote products and items on here. People always ask me “Did you make any money with that company?” I always try to maximize my site’s revenue. If something doesn’t work, I examine why it’s not working and either adjust, or try something else. Just because I couldn’t make something work, doesn’t mean it’s bad for your site.
I hate sites claiming to make $2000 a month without any proof to document their earnings. I want to see realistic numbers, so I have something to compare to. My site shows what is possible with 400-600 visitors daily and doing your best to monetize that site.
Now, does this mean if I had 40 sites like this one I could retire and just collect 40k a year? Definitely not. A site that requires no maintenance isn’t a blog, it’s a landing page.
For those who really want to earn an income from blogging, create 10-20 personal blogs, varying the focus of each. Then join every pay-per-post company out there once google indexes you. You can paste text from the phone book and get a pagerank 2. If you are lucky, you can keep up with the workload, rewrite the same opportunities, and clear $100+ a day. Too boring for me to try though.
I am sad now….lol. I don’t have loads of traffic and maybe that is my problem but I do try to offer ads that are somewhat relevant to my site and my sites topic. I don’t know…. maybe I just need the traffic to get some earnings. I heard CJ was the best to earn some money but I’ve been with them for about 2 weeks and not a cent so I’m going to wait them out because I do like their ads and I’m going to offer some ad spots of my own on my site. I’ll see how that works out.
Congrats on the earnings Turnip. I just passed $100. I didn’t really begin trying to monetize until July or so. I also have another $78.00 in Performancing Ads that I won’t collect for quite a while. Your earnings are impressive and give hope to the rest of us! I notice you have made some decent $$$ doing paid reviews. I have read that Google will punish your PR for participating in these. Yet, you have managed to maintain a PR3. What’s your take on this? Thanks for sharing this valuable information. Take care.
Thanks for posting your earnings. You’re one of the more interesting reads that I’ve found through Entrecard.
Thanks for this post. It’s great to see some real data on making money from blogs. I’ve toyed with the idea of monetizing my blog more, but didn’t really have to context to determine if it was worth the effort. It great to see actual numbers for a blog focused on monetization.
As a newbie blogger, this was so helpful. Of course, at first, setting up my revenue model has been overwhelming. For the first week, I’m focusing on traffic and content, and am starting to research good sites that might bring a little money. This post helps me follow the money a little.
And probably the most helpful part of this post was in your comments when you said different combinations work for different sites, I’m definitely going to approach it this way.
Congrats to U..I new in making money on my blog.
that’s fabulous! congrats!! you are an inspiration!!!
congrats on your blog anniversary, turnip! I was kindda expecting a larger amount of year to date earnings. But this is reality. Thanks for this info!
CEblogger: You honor me by expecting too much! My blog is less than 1 year old. How many honest bloggers actually make $283 a month with a new blog? I consider myself hardworking and lucky. But blogging isn’t my main source of income, it’s my hobby. Now I’m starting a new business adventure where I hope to share my knowledge with a small group of people. Let’s see how that works out.
That’s some really good side money! I would like to eventually see one of my sites making something like that. I’ve had to take a major break from blogging as I had to come back to America. (My cozy American satellite job in France was closed.)
I’ll probably halt work on the American in France blog for a while since it’s a bit of a touchy subject for me know and start on a new project.

Those are some pretty good numbers. I have experimented with a few different things but not as many as you. I think I need to diversify a little more and see what happens.
Congrats!
Too low for a year-on-year income.
I said..congrats on your blog anniversary
