Webmaster Extension for FireFox is a FireFox add-on that has a lot of interesting uses. It displays information on every outgoing link on a website. First it shows the pagerank, quality (trust rank) of the domain, and then projected traffic based upon compete.com’s rating. What won’t show up are javascript links, internal links to the same site, and https links. Below you can see a picture of it in action.

You won’t even notice it’s installed other than seeing a small W2 icon at the bottom right of your browser. Simply click on that Webmaster icon and the pagerank suddenly appears. On my own site, I found one of the links in my blogroll had gone from a PR 4 to a PR 1! Sorry, but it had to go. I don’t like to link to spammy sites penalized by Google.
How is this plugin useful? Say you have a blog and want to make some comments on other blogs in your niche. Google your keywords and then activate the plugin. You will see the pagerank of all the links on the page. Same goes for your own site. Go to your WordPress comment page and click the icon for the plugin. Now you can see the page rank of everyone who ever commented on your blog.
Issues: I am running Vista on Firefox 3 and had a small issue with the plugin. I only saw the page rank and not the trusted icons or Compete icons. This is fine because the page rank is what I’m most interested in. As you can see below, the most important feature of the plugin works perfectly. Here is an example of the blogroll from Evilwoobie.com.

I can quickly see if her blog links to real sites, or is a link farm for spam. Hmm, seems OK except for that “Hot Guys” link. Wonder how that got there? Go ahead and check out the Webmaster Extension for FireFox.
Hi turnip! Thanks for using my roll as your example!
Nice, that should make things a little easier
Gee Thanks! Now I’ve just spent 10 minutes checking out the PR of all the links on my sites.
Fun tool!
Cool! I am going to try it out. Thanks for telling us about it. I thought I had every FF extension known to man or woman. LOL

That’s a nice plugin to have for sure. It is a pain to lookup PR of specific blogs one by one.
I have seen other plugins that do the same thing, but they load much more information and at times could slow down the browser.
This is a great plugin and now I know where to find hot guys, too!
I’m so glad to see on line dating has a higher page rank that the others.
I’m going to have to give that a try. Thanks for the Info.

Glad you all enjoyed it. Can one of you who tried it tell me if you found the compete, com and trusted rank info useful?
I’ve just installed and can only see PR. I’m running FF3 on WinXP so maybe is a FF3 issue and not a Vista one.
I was already using Search Status plugin which also shows PR, Alexa and Compete ranks, but only once you load the site. I’ve found Webmaster2 useful though as I can check PR of several sites at a glance.
I recommend using Search Status http://www.quirk.biz/searchstatus/ nonetheless, as it features a lot of useful tools to help you improve your site’s SEO and peek on your competitors’ as well.
Great news! The plugin maker updated the plugin to work properly with Firefox 3. Now I see everything as I’m suppoed to. Those who installed it will get the update when they restart firefox.
Got the update just now. Thx Turnip…
I just installed it and am getting used to it. I kind of like the fact I have to turn it on at every page. As far as weather the page rank is accurate or not, haven’t had a chance to check that out yet. I know it is accurate with My page rank, or at least what I had Page rank wise a bout a month ago.

Thanks for the info. Got the plugin already and it works nicely.
yeah this plugin is very useful for me.
I tried it and this one is really a keeper. Now, I have this plugin and search status side by side. Thanks for the info Turnip!
Thank you for being top dropper on my blog
Turnip, I have an old computer. I am going to try this because even though I am just a humor blogger I still think that who your links are going to/coming from is important. I will let you know how it works on an antique.
Man I love Firefox…Why cant Microsoft develops something better .. they keep releasing there IE now and then which is useless after all…
Great plugin! What I like about it is that it isn’t on by default slowing everything down, just need to activate it when needed.
Thanks! I got the plugin updated today and now it all displays properly.
Thanks for sharing. This is an awesome add-on for my FF3.
