I will share one more tip with you.  I mentioned how you could use a URL like the following to possibly increase your alexa rank: http://redirect.alexa.com/redirect?turnipofpower.com/ .  Well,  I got a personalized rejection from one blog accusing me of “alexa.com abuse in link”.  Now, that is about as silly a reason you could make up.  First of all, Alexa would love nothing more than to actually be able to record every click on the Internet.  In fact, they encourage you to install their toolbar and do just that.  I suppose that particular blog owner would be just as offended for me encouraging people to install the toolbar.  Even so, if someones got their panties all bunched up into a knot over something like that, then there are some very simple work arounds.  There are WordPress plugins like The Better “Alexa Redirect” WordPress Plugin that will change your internal links to alexa links.  You could change your .HTAccess file to rewrite the links.  Or you could try the following simple solution.  Put this code in your footer so it loads last, changing the website info to your own. Then create a 1 pixel x 1 pixel .gif file and upload it to your server. <img src=”http://redirect.alexa.com/redirect?turnipofpower.com/images/x.gif” border=0>  This will ping the alexa server each pageview same as using the URL trick.

I started this blog on October 17th of this year with an alexa rank of 8,500,000.  I quickly dropped to 1,500,000.  They stayed at 1,300,00 a few weeks.  Today I get a nice surprise, alexa rank 615,108!  My new milestone is to make the top 100,000 blogs.  If 615,106 is a 3 month average and not a 1 day spike, I’m well on my way there.
