Blogger One: My ad ran on Johnchow.com yesterday!
Blogger Two: Oh Really, ___ _____ _____ ____ ____ ____?

So what is the Johnchow.com question? For most of the blogging world, people want to know something along the lines of “How much traffic did you get?”. Three times today I mentioned my Entrecard was appearing on Chow’s site, three times I was asked that same question.
Why the big deal? It wasn’t like I paid $450 for a site review. It was a single 125×125 free ad from Entrecard that ran for 24 hours. Thirty minutes of clicking gave me enough credits to run my ad for the day. But every blogger has a dream. For many, it’s to be popular and successful, and as A-List bloggers go, John Chow is on top.
Appearing On Chow’s blog is like getting your picture taken in front of something famous while on vacation. When people see the picture they say, “Hey, that’s the Statue of Liberty”. So when you see the picture on the right, you can ignore my tiny ad and say “Hey, I know that blog”.
Now for the answers. Below are my top 3 Entrecard ads of all time. As you can see, I didn’t get the most clicks ever from my ad.
| Jean Costa | 90 |
| Saphrym.com | 73 |
| John Chow dot Com | 47 |
For those arriving by other means, a traffic total of 407 readers was decent, but not overly so for a Monday. It wasn’t even my highest recent traffic day which was 643 viewers on 1/16/08.

Anything else of interest? Yes, about 10 people checked out many of my back articles. Which tells me some of John Chow’s readers examine everything on his site with minute detail. Even sites which he just links to. I also had 3 affiliate sales for the day, which could have been related to the increased traffic. No AdSense increase at all to report. Of course it was worth the 300 cr. What else would I write about on a Tuesday?
Good to see you got some decent traffic from John, It may have been a lite day when I was there, but my results were dismal at best.
I am not surprised that you did not get good traffic from john chow (compared to the other big blogs).

I honestly am a former reader of his blog but I found out his posts are really useless.. I still don’t know how come he makes big money every month
None of his posts provided real help to make money online.. and what he eats doesn’t really interest me
My question, would you advertise on john chow again if you got the the opportunity to do it?
To be brutally honest, I probably wouldn’t spend those credits to advertise on that blog. I’ve been hearing a lot from people who ran their ads on JohnChow, and got fairly disappointing results.
In fact, the John Chow Question is probably becoming “When will he ever wake up and start blogging again?”

Well, John’s got a real tip today about AdWord scores. Tips 1-6 are for complete beginners. Tip #7 was new to me. I knew it was being done, but never researched exactly how. I’m also the one fan that likes the food posts and conference videos. Probably because I don’t get out much.
Would I do it again? Absolutely. His blog is cheap to advertise on based on entrecredits. I have more credits than I can easily sell / spend. I’d wait a bit before I advertise there again to give others a chance, but if a spot opens up I’ll grab it.
I’m fairly new to Entrecard, I’ve been using it less than a week. I’m currently saving up enough credits to put an ad on one of the big blogs, does anyone have a recomendation on which are the best?
Thanks
Martin
Martin, “Search for blogging” got me some good traffic when I advertised on it. Good luck!
Depends what your goal is. If you want more drops, look in the forums for active people that drop on their advertisers. If you want people from outside the entrecard community, Jean Costa or John Chow. The end goal of most entrecarders is to get people to visit their site, not to get them to click on their entrecard. I checked out your site and found it loaded the content so slowly, people will just pass by. At first I thought it had no content and just ads. That should be your main worry. Save your credits until you optimise your page.
Hi Rami, I will give that a try.
Thanks Turnip, I’m after more traffic really rather than clicks on my Entrecard, that’s a secondary issue. I’ve never found it to be that slow before, its hosted on blogger so maybe there service was running a bit slowley or I might just have it cached so I don’t see the delay. I will have to look into that though if it really is that slow then its abig problem.
Cheers
Martin
Thanks for providing the statistics of adversiting on John Chow’s site. I was curious to know just how much traffic would be driven to my site from advertising on his.
