Time to update Turnip’s Social Networking Contest with results and new prizes!
Using the free Back Link Analyzer 2.0, you can see the positive results of the contest so far. A whole bunch of links using the term “Social Networking” pointing to Turnipofpower.com have appeared since the start of the contest.
Remember, you can vary the words “Social” and “Networking” in your sentence so each link isn’t exactly the same.
New Prizes! While I was not looking for additional sponsors, several readers have stepped forward and offered to donate prizes.
- Debbie from Wisdom Hypnosis is offering a Living The Lucky Life audio mp3 download, a $21.77 value.
- Foolsville 2.0 has pledged 10 bucks paypal and 5000 ec’s (Ed. Note: I think he means Entrecard credits)
- Fragileheart.com is donating a prize package consisting of 5,000ec and two blackberry pearl skins. One is red, the other is a coffee (with milk) colour.
Let’s not forget the original Prizes.
1st place: A Maxtor ONE TOUCH 4 Mini External 80gb Hard Drive. New, never opened, still in the box, It’s been sitting around my room for over a year. Backup or transport your data. Comes with USB 2.0 cable, Maxtor Safety Drill Recovery CD, and the Drive itself. Windows and Mac compatible. A $40 value on eBay last I looked.
2nd place: 10,000 Impressions on the CMF ADS Network donated by Stan at Fantasy Baseball Advice. A $25 value now, in November this will have a $36 value. Get your site or product noticed on over 20 quality websites. Ad must fit in with the CMF AD guidelines to be approved. Banner size is 123×125pixels.
3rd prize: A Turnip of Power T-shirt available in the size of your choice. Normally a $15 value when I offer them for sale. Expertly printed by East Side Tees. Each shirt is 100% pure cotton, Gildan brand. Black short sleeved t-shirt, printed in 2 colors, featuring the Turnip logo on the front, with the words “Turnip of Power” below.

- Subscribe to my RSS feedand create a new link on your blog linking to any page at turnipofpower.com, including this contest page. The anchor text must contain the words “Social Networking”. For example: Turnip of Power writes many posts about Entrecard and social networking. Notice how the above example links to http://turnipofpower.com/category/social-networking/. By varying the page linked to, I’m hoping to spread pagerank over the entire site. Blogroll links are allowed, as long as the link mentions social networking. For example: Turnip of Power | Social Networking
- Post a comment in this thread or below this update post with a link to the page containing your back link. One comment per entry, one entry per blog. If you have more than one blog, you may enter more than once.
- Winners will be chosen at midnight on November 20th 2008 using random.org
Right now the odds are very good considering how few people posted in the last thread. I will count entries posted in this thread as well when I hold the drawing.

Hi Turnip,
Good job but a quick little tip – try and get some variety or you may run into trouble with G for Google bombing as you are getting too many identical links to fast. Have them link to you using several different wordings like “Turnip’s Social network blog”, “are you interested in social networking”, is social networking for you?” etc. The results will still be the same but your inks will look far more natural. Btw – I mentioned another tip in todays post that you should take a look at.
I must say your readers are quick to help you out – maybe too quick. lol.
I must admit, I was a skeptic. A black t-shirt? I mean c’mon now. Then I got it with this plump juicy (do turnips get juicy?) whiter than white (sorry Clorox) Three perfectly formed leaves, forming the most wonderful of side dish veggies one could ask for. I couldn’t wait to try it on, I got the Xl size, cause my middle is… well neverimind about my middle, The Turnip of Power Shirt fit like a glove, and I was no longer ashamed to go out in public to worry the “what not to where” show police would mace me in my tracts.
I had a new found confidence, I’m on top of the world ma! This Turnip of Power shirt is just what I needed. My life has done a 360 and I am wanted by every woman that sees my large turnip. My wife will only let me wear it while she is with me though, but I guess that is fair!
Fool: I’m glad you too found the shirts to be a chick magnet. Strangely enough, all the women are married and over 35.
Grizz: The contest says that people can link to any article and only have to use the words “social” and “Networking” in a sentence. The results above are sorted by keyword. You can’t see the few who changed the wording a little. Your latest suggestion of reversing the blog title is interesting. I’ll certainly give it a try. Switching the title slighty is also a good way to vary the links every so often.

Turnip I posted about your contest and included two links, also I already had you in my blogroll but I changed it to include the words Social Networking. I also subscribed to your RSS feed. I’m not the brightest bulb on the blogging block, so if I did any of this wrong, or if you prefer I change anything please just tell me and I’ll fix it / change it. You have a great blog so I really don’t mind doing this for you.
