NoFollow Free version 1.5.2 was released today. I’ve upgraded and noticed the “Top Comment” widget was working again. I’ve added it to the sidebar on the left now that it’s behaving properly. Anyone appearing on the widget is automatically added to my “top blogs” folder in my bookmark list. What does that mean exactly? I have 3 Entrecard accounts. I drop 300 cards using my main account which covers the entire bookmark list. Then with my other 2 accounts, I drop on the 35 or so blogs in my “Top Blogs” only. Bottom line is you get 2 extra drops for being in that folder. Consider the link and extra 60 Entrecredits as a way of saying “Thanks for commenting”. It should also be noted that the NoFollow Free plugin is set to change nofollow links to follow after 3 comments.
In other news. I’m heading to the post-office shortly to mail the t-shirts to the two winners. My computer died this morning and I just got things running again. Time to invest in a UPS.
Hey, turn-a-roo-ski, should I get this update?
Sure, just to practice your plugin update skills! The auto-update doesnt work with this one, so I’d deactivate the plugin, delete the old folder, then extract the new one.
it figures as much! I finally got around to installing the previous version (as per your other post on this subject) yesterday, and now I gotta do it all over again. Well thanks for the update, It wouldn’t even have crossed my mind to check it out so soon.
Aw, man! Now I’m lost, maybe I’ll catch up with you over IM one of these days and we’ll do it.
Palabra!
Already got the update installed
I’m still confuse about this no follow/u comment I follow, things. Is it good or bad to have a no follow blog?
When people comment on your blog, they get a link. So it is good because nofollow helps both people. The blog owner gets comments, making him look like one happening dude, the commenter get links which improve pagerank, and others on my blog might follow your link to visit your blog.
I see, so that’s why they are selling comments on EC shop. I think it is better if readers leaves comments on their own interest, rite?
thanks for the update. lol I see i am one of the noisest visitors.
People sell anything in the shop to try and earn some credits. Everyone that’s commented on my site did so through their own free will. That’s why I appreciate my “noisiest visitors” so much.
I am new to the world of WordPress. I have 4 do-follow blogs on Blogspot, but I have been plagued with spam comments. You know, where people leave the same comment on all four blogs with “birminghamrealesate” instead of the name of their blog. I delete these.
Do you have this problem with this plugin?
Cyber, I never have that issue, here’s why. I use a plugin called “Bad Behavior” that blocks most of the bots that leave those comments. Also, I hold all comments in moderation until I have approved at least one comment by the author. Finally, I use Askimet, which provides it’s own spamlist protection. Since links are made nofollow after the 3rd post and not the first, no spammer ever gets links from my site.
Ahhh yes…these are the plugins I need. Thanks again for another quality post.
Thanks for the heads up.
Just installed the new version:)
Great plugin! Can you explain why it only activates links after the 3rd? Is that something that we can adjust manually?
Can the 3 comment thing be manually adjusted, or is that hard-coded in?
It can be set to any number, including 0.
