Recently I was approached by a fellow blogger interested in writing a guest post for Turnipofpower.com. The entire concept was new to me and would be a first for this blog. Hmm, Yes or No? I really didn’t like past guest bloggers on johnchow.com, but I do like the idea of varied articles expanding my niche.
After careful thought, I decided to give it a try once and then judge reaction. When the post is ready, it will fall under the Health category. Obviously the writer had talent and wants increased exposure, but what control should I have over the post?
Well, being a former English teacher, I would certainly call out the grammar and spelling police. The other rule is that the article should be informative and get to the point. Don’t say you are going to write about health, do it. If you step on a few toes in the process, then you will probably fit right in here. Not that anything I write is for shock value, this isn’t Howard Stern.
If anyone else is truly interested in writing a guest blog post, they can contact me at turnip(at)turnipofpower.com. I’ll be glad to discuss your idea for an article. Obviously, no PayPerPost, E-book crap or other scams, no affiliate links, and must be somehow related to blogging, social networking, or marketing. Links to your own site and sources are allowed of course.
So you write the article, I edit it with suggested changes and send it back. You look over my changes, make any of your own, and resend it to me. Then I publish it, perhaps with a slight into. Let’s see how the first one goes, not to put any pressure on the mystery guest poster.
So now I’m busy trying to craft an article that fits both of niches and also passes the snore factor…
BTW, I hate to point this out to the spelling and grammer cop. But, you have two typos in the first paragraph.

Love ya…
Yes, I knew that Evan, that was a test for you. Advance to the next level.
Actually, those errors are an annoying issue with the WYSIWYG editor. I changed the date and published that post 5 hours earlier so I could get some sleep. Usually I reread posts many times when I publish them immediately. That’s the danger of being your own editor.
I rock!
Since I write most of my posts between 3-5 am, I have a few errors every now and then. As you so helpfully pointed out.
For criticizing your post I cheated. I cut and pasted the whole thing into Microsoft Office and ran the spellchecker.
When it comes to writing, I’m articulate and grammatically correct. Spelling is a pet peeve of mine and I often find it hard to read posts, emails and even newspaper articles that have poor spelling, grammar and punctuation.
That being said, I’m a techno-idiot. Well, I’m not really an idiot about technology, but I don’t think I could write about it. Ask me to write about my kids, photography or scrapbooking, and I could do a guest post here.
Not likely, huh?
That’s not fair. Funny that mine didn’t catch it.
Evil spellchecker!
Fair? You deleted my only post. I left yours there for all to see.
What? I didn’t delete your post. It’s still there.
I only delete spam or really over the top hate speech.
