Monkey TalesYou’re traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That’s the signpost up ahead – your next stop, the Entrecard Zone!  The tale I’m about to tell you is beyond bizarre.    It has to do with one man’s obsession with social marketing on Entrecard.

Background: Mike, the person behind Monkey Fables And Tales vanished on November 13th 2008 amidst a plagiarism scandal which is detailed on Ripped… from *MY* Headlines!  Way back when I was a member at Entrecard there was a user called Monkey Tales who was always ranked #1 in popularity.  The Strangest Monkey Tale Of All relives that intriguing saga.  But now I can reveal the rest of the story…

Let’s get right to the shocking conclusion;  Entrecard member Selcom60 is former user Monkey Tales.  Shocking for many reasons, as  Monkey Tales had already fooled all of Entrecard once before.  Now he has not only done it again, but used the same exact methods to duplicate his scam.  Let’s look at the following points of evidence.

1. The original Monkey Tales used 6 blogs to earn credits for his main blog.  Selcom60 uses 6 blogs to earn credits for their main blog What’s On My Mind Today.  5 of the sites are splogs with minimal content, no ads, and just an Entrecard.

2. Monkey vanished the 2nd week of November 2008, but he knew his game was up.  Charley, whose material was being stolen, tried to contact Monkey.  Monkey disappeared rather than face the music.  Sunday, November 9, 2008 What’s On My Mind blog is founded.

3. The original Monkey Tales plagiarized all his blogs.  Selcom60 is also stealing content on all their blogs, except their main one.  No surprise Entrecard is clueless yet again.  Just check out Not Your Ordinary History blog and Google any sentence on the page.  Word for word copied.

4. Not Your Ordinary History contains a link to OBSCURE HISTORY, one of Monkey’s old blogs that had been closed down.

5. Monkey’s old IP was 68.117.93.17, Selcom60’s IP is 66.190.21.111, both come back to the same Charter Communications block.

6. Monkey’s old sites didn’t have a single advertisement. Selcom60’s sites have no ads either, except one.

7. That single ad is for Beds.com. Monkey Tales worked at Beds.com in a mall. Selcom60 also works in a mall at a bed store.

8. Monkey TaleSelcom60 says “I’m a fan of Sleep Number beds”.  Here is a picture of Monkey Tales lying down on a sleep number bed.  He seems to be enjoying it as well!

9.Mike The person who alerted me to the fraud posted an anonymous comment on Selcom60’s blog asking if they were indeed Monkey.  Immediately after Selcom60 changed their twitter picture, made the comments on their blog “approved only”, and removed the Beds.com ad.  In addition, they didn’t tweet about the changes or comment on their blog.  Furthermore, he changed his twitter profile from “Location US – WI” to Location USA”.   Coincidence, you be the judge.

10.  Selcom joined Entrecard in November 2008.  Yet he says in a twitter message “The market place at Entrecard is a definite improvement over the “shop” there that was replaced. A lot more offerings now too.”  Well, how would he know, the old market was closed long before he had joined.  In fact, the EC shop was closed last week of September, two full months before Selcom60 even joined Entrecard.  Good memory  :)

Monkey/Selcom60 is probably sick with fear of being caught.  But isn’t that why he did it in the first place?  In neither case did Monkey/Selcom60 ever profit from his blogs.  His only goal has always been to be #1 an Entrecard.  He’s some guy working in an empty bed store at a mall with too much time on his hands.  Probably does customer service on the computer when the store is empty.  Drop 50 cards, type an email, repeat all day.

OK, the cat is out of the bag.  Now that we know, what does he do?  Denial, vanish again, apologize, tell the truth?  So far he’s tried to cover his tracks by deleting or editing his user details.  After this article, things won’t be so simple.   Monkey,  I wish you no hard feelings.  You are welcome to join CMF Ads with your blogs that contain original material.  But your story is so fascinating that it must be told.

To quote one of selcom60 followers on twitter: “That’s OK. One can fool most people some of the time, but eventually it comes back to bite you. I firmly believe this.”
