ConanThose of you reading this are probably here thanks to Entrecard.  Recently Entrecard has grown considerably and I see a lot of change taking place, both good and bad.  Here are some predictions I see happening in the next month or two.

The Goodbyes…

  • Lot’s of tearful goodbyes in the forums when people decide to remove their widget.  Those who got involved early experienced a tight knit community.  Despite the increased Entrecard traffic to their site, they won’t be able to deal with not being the “Big Fish in a Small Pond” any longer.  No worries, active community members replacing the inactive is a very good thing.
  • Angry goodbyes from people who claim they can’t keep up with those who are “Gaming the System”.  Entrecard isn’t a contest if you don’t make it one.  You get what you put into it.  Some bloggers click a lot to get visitors, other run contests, the best blogs write great articles.  Throwing up an Entrecard Widget, rejecting all advertisers as “not relevant”, never participate in the forum, and then wonder why you don’t see any traffic.

The Hello’s…

  • Entrecard is going to get bigger.  We will see a large amount of spam blogs, niche blogs that never update their content, and a flood of forum posts designed to attract visitors to these blogs.  Have strength Entrecarders, we will overcome and endure this surge until it passes.  If you use a nice updated bookmark-list you won’t even see these blogs. (Hint: link)
  • Some big blogs outside of the Internet marketing community are going to jump on board.  With them they will bring a host of followers.  More traffic is good, but who could afford 1000cr to advertise on someone’s blog for 1 day?

The Man…

  • Some big corporation will step up to the plate and show their support.  Expect to see some advertising first in your inbox, then every so often on your page, maybe a message in your inbox or email that you can opt out of.  Eventually, I would expect a redesigned widget with a “Sponsored by…” added at some point.  Will Entrecarders draw the line somewhere?

Do not fear, these are simply predictions of what I see coming.  I could be totally wrong.  Anyone care to venture a guess using their best Conan O’Brian voice “In the year 2008 Entrecard will…”
