In a startingly racist April 11th blog comment from Graham Langdon, Entrecard blames the “Eastern World” for it’s problems.
“we are going to move as close to a free market as possible, but with the potential to abuse of the drop system, black markets and “farms” in the eastern world bottomed out the price of credits to about .25 cents per thousand, at which point it became clear that we needed to nationalize until further measures could be taken to safeguard proper issuance of credits.

Sneaky eastern world card dropper caught in the Act
Eastern World, Huh? So apparently some rice farmer in Vietnam destroyed the free market. What kind of racist crap is this? Wouldn’t a “free market” allow everyone to buy and sell credits? Anyone can currently buy and sell US stocks, should we blame those “damn Japs” for our current United States economic issues?
Don’t red blooded Americans also abuse the drop system? Seems to me Entrecard could check the referrers of who is dropping cards. Why don’t they release the stats of who is abusing the drop system? Cournalists should investigate the facts before engaging in such yellow journalism.
Here’s an idea, instead of blaming foreigners for problems you knew existed over a full year ago, for once in your life accept the blame. Your failure to have a proper business model is what screwed up your virtual economy. Your failure to put in a full day of work and rely upon unpaid labor is what filled your network with spam. BTW whiteboy wearing the asshat, there are both American spammers and “Eastern World” spammers clogging your network, in case you never looked at your demographics.
Now I wonder what Graham was referring to when he mentions ”black markets”.
Oh my gosh! Just when I thought it could get any worse it did! So let’s see so far Graham has driven off the faithful and the today.com blogs. He’s insulted folks enough to leave through the forums. Does he even remotely know how many outside of the USA use entrecard? So he essentially wants a USA based traffic exchange used by only white Americans? Un-flipping-believable! He is a definite asset to bloggers everywhere. If the ad issue hadn’t been such a problem this issue would have caused me to leave. What an idiot Graham is proving himself to be!
I have mentioned this before but it is worth repeating:
This man is guided by a set of principles. If you do not like his principles, do not despair, he has others.
let’s not forget Graham’s reply to why creating credits out of thin air is acceptable:
“What you’re describing is what’s called a fiat currency, and ever since the states abandoned the gold standard we’ve been printing currency out of thin air. It’s the American way. Call me old fashioned, traditional, what have you, but this is just how we do things here.”
interesting that he only uses terms like “fiat currency” and “gold standard” since impnerd.com published a post about it.
“it’s the American way” just proves he only has time for US members.
duh, forgot to mention the really obvious point…
he justifies “printing currency out of thin air” yet elsewhere states how the economy is in trouble, blah blah… even going so far as to say entrecard could give you a 2nd income!
hey – wise up, dumbass – the economy is in the shit because the world has been living off borrowed money. the entre-world will come crashing down soon enough, at about the same time as Graham’s credit card company send him a final demand
Count me among those who will be leaving very soon.
This weekend, one of the very young asshat mods decided my thank-you note was spam because I invited him (he bought an ad on my blog with EC) to take a closer look at the very business he chose to purchase an ad on.
He deleted that blog from the system, and because I questioned him, he and his henchmen promptly removed about 15K EC from my account.
You can read the thank-you by clicking on my name.
The problems at Entrecard have more to do with the people running it than the basic concept. Phi is supposed to be a cracker-jack programmer and I’m sure if he had the right incentive, he could install the proper security.
Right now, all I want to do is mount a serious charge against these asshats. I pick my fights very carefully, and this is one to take on.
Shari, I lost 230k credits for posting “Is that Asshat at Entrecard still wearing that asshat?” on twitter, so I completely understand. This is why Entrecard cannot be trusted with money or private information. If my banker stole 230k from me because I insulted him on twitter, he’d be in jail. Know this, the mod who deleted your account also has your private email. Entrecard conveniently exposes that info when you use their form system.
haha, somehow I doubt graham is really that much of racist…humorous read nevertheless.
@Mom’s cafe home cooking – where did you get the idea that all american’s are white? hmm…maybe I live in a different american then you
James: Blaming foreigners is more of a case of Nationalism than racism, so in that sense you are correct. There are Easterners of every color, just as there are westerners of every color. Yes, the article was intentionally written to be humorous, but the quote is legitimate and not taken out of context.
Man Turnip, that is rough (losing your E account) I sure hope Grahm sleeps well at night.
I haven’t dropped a E card in quite a while and feel no need to get back in that fray.
Beamer
I haven’t been paying attention to Entrecard for several months, but I just read up on this ad system.
Let me get this straight….They run ads in the network and the money goes to people who click, not to the people who host the ads??
Why the fuck would anyone ever want to be in Entrecard unless you were just running a click racket? Anyone with a real website with real traffic is funding everyone else.
@James if you read how my comment was worded is “Graham is aiming the entrecard system at white Americans” not that all Americans were white. And I’m not American nor do I live in the US.
@Gary the underlying reason is the promise from entrecard that at some point members will be able to cash out their credits. Now they don’t get any credits for running paid ads or clicking on paid ads. The only way to get credits is to continue clicking on non-paid EC ads, displaying non-paid EC ads and have other members drop back. With the changes paid ads are displayed 50% of the time so essentially members now have to work twice as hard to generate those credits. I suspect there are going to be a lot of ticked off bloggers when entrecard goes under without ever paying out so much as even a penny to members. In short members using the system thinking they are going to money are deluding themselves.
You get credits primarily from clicking, not running ads. So if you have a lot of traffic and don’t click, there is no point in being in Entrecard.
Which means the whole system is a race to the bottom as good sites are penalized in favor of people with crappy sites who just click.
Quite correct Gary. There is no 75% tax on dropping cards or on receiving drops. So the cash out is completely unrelated to your traffic.
Turnip, welllll it’s tax day and I decided I’d pay my entrecard tax today.
I reposted this , on all three of my blogs with the Entre Racism header. yep, lets see what happens when folks start droppin and reading this nice lil piece for Tax Day.
Lets Just Call this my version of the Tea Party.
Don’t forget to leave me a comment okaying the repost please. as you know you have to co-sign my craftiness. LOL.

Graham has at least one member who is as big a racist pig as him. Member Ithiel says “People get credits from dropping cards – ie. surfing peoples blog sites. If you then pay people for those credits, you are affectively becoming Paid-To-Surf network. Apart from the fact that the % of Chinese & African bloggers will suddenly skyrocket for some strange reason, it also has other ramifications.”
@Guinevere Oh my gosh! Where did you find that quote? Surely it wasn’t on entrecard’s blog was it? If it was how on earth would it not have been censored? They censor anything else they don’t like so I’m assuming this is on someone’s blog?
That comment is from a member’s forum post (which he posted once, and then re-posted in another thread).
@Joyuna, unbelievable! So folks will get banned for calling Graham an A$$Hat in another forum and folks with good reputations on entrecard will be told to leave simply for questioning any policy BUT posting something blatantly racist on the entrecard forum is ok? Just with this Graham has lost whatever smidgen of credibility he had. The boy seriously needs a med change!
I just had my entrecard account deleted. Gee, I wonder if it’s because I applied for cashout and had 13,000+ EC? Of course, there was a reason given: that I haven’t posted to my blog in quite some time. True, I haven’t (family emergency, i.e. my husband walked out on me and my two kids).
So, I get that my blog might be deleted from the catalog or whatever. But delete my 13,000+ credits? When I spent hours dropping cards? When I built up a following such that 300+ people dropped on my site a day? That’s all just gone. Great.
Entrecard is seems pretty determined to just commit suicide by alienating once-loyal members.
Soapsushi: I agree wholeheartedly. My bank can’t delete my account for calling their president an a-hole on twitter, so why should some pissant kid running a business delete my account of any others? If anything, EC should have cashed you out and sent you a check, not stolen the credits.
