So where were we?  Graham “Adele” Langdon posting as a sock puppet, Entrecard closing it’s forum to the public in response, and plenty of name calling from both sides of the EC fence.  Normally I let insults from those who have never read my blog fall by the wayside.  But when one of those insults comes from the same account as an Entrecard Mod, I feel it requires comment.

Entre-slime

So tonight’s trip into the EC slime pit is sponsored by Susan from Susan’s Home.  (First person to count the number of grammar mistakes on her front page and I’ll buy a CMF Ad spot on your blog up to 5cr)  Susan and Entrecard Mod “Make a Pound” are one and the same person: http://entrecard.com/details/116135.  Susan claims “Andy” is her fiance.  Either way, when a person in that position attacks me, I will respond.  He/She chose Bethe’s post Entrecard Bans Most Members From Forums-So Much For “Transparency.” to insult me.  Here is her lovely quote:

turnip head just plays dirty because he is jealous of Graham turnip makes me laugh with how pathetic he is

So, I play dirty? I am pathetic? Need I mention when checking your Entrecard profile that you have turnipofpower.com listed as one of your favorite blogs? No matter.  You get what you ask for, dirty and pathetic, just for you tonight Susan!

Let me take you back to December 4th 2008.  I was banned from Entrecard that day for tweeting the words “Is that asshat from entrecard still wearing his asshat?” on twitter.  Publicly I was accused of all kinds of nonsense on the Entrecard blog.  Though the silly statements were retracted on the EC blog, my account was never unbanned, the 230k credits stolen never returned, and no public apology made.  One would think that was the entire story, only because I remained quiet and have a policy of not publishing private email and conversations.

Thanks to Susan’s comment, I will now publish a private email to demonstrate how “dirty” I can be.  The following email was sent to my private account on Saturday, December 6th by Graham Langdon.  I will leave it up to my readers to compare what is said in the email vs. what was said on the blog publicly and in the forums.  You be the judge of who plays fair with their readers.

hey turnip,

ok, so look. the way I figure it, we basically have two options:

1.) continue this silliness, it lasts for however long, blows over, whatever

2.) we use the position we’re in, and controversy surrounding us, to skyrocket both of ourselves to new levels. look, my traffic is surging. I’m sure yours is too. it is clearly in our best interest to work together, plan out the course of events and the drama, and make both of us more popular than ever. let’s turn it into an online soap opera. we’d be stupid not to.

now I don’t know exactly how you feel about the whole situation, but I’m guessing not half as polarized as you come off on your blog. in the end, you want the best possible outcome for your online brand, identity and audience, and so do I. …so, this is a once in a lifetime type of opportunity, the amount of people that are following this controversy right now. we could really do something interesting wit this. but we have to work together on it.

so if you’re interested in working together, let me know. I have some ideas.

and by the way, it would absolutely imperative that you keep this conversation in complete confidentiality.

My response was to ignore him. Fake controversy is not my style. If I post something controversial, I do not fake it. I research and document it as best I can. Could I have taken Graham’s bait, lost all credibility, and gotten a few more readers? Maybe. But then Susan’s attacks would really sting, because they would be true. So tell me, how do you feel about your traffic Santa now?

*Note: I have hundreds of hours of conversations with EC mods, admins, and programmers. It is not in my style to release correspondance of this nature. But if someone with mod status wants to up the ante and question my ethics, I don’t mind taking the bait on occasion.
