CMF Promote is the most recently added module on the CMF Network. For many of you, this may be the alternative you’ve been looking for. All bloggers like traffic to their blogs. Many CMF users had gotten into the habit of visiting each other’s sites while dropping cards for another network. Now that most of us have moved on, we still needed a way to reconnect. The CMF directory was fine, but it didn’t tell me what each person had posted that day. So I came up with the idea for CMF Promote. A one stop source of all of all recent CMF Direct Member’s blog posts. All blogs signed up at CMF Direct will automatically be added.
CMF Promote works by posting the title of each members latest article onto one page. We collect this data using an RSS feed. Below each article are the usual social promotion buttons for Reddit, Technorati, Stumble, Mixx, and Digg. You can visit any site and comment, stumble or digg the post; whatever you feel will help promote each other’s websites. Anything but dropping a stupid card please. We do not track credits, and we do not force anyone to display a widget. Since all blogs are approved before joining, you won’t be subjected to spam or sites that haven’t updated their content in 3 months either. There are two ways to use CMF Promote. You can visit the page itself, or subscribe to the RSS feed for CMF Promote. Let’s face it, I don’t mind checking out 30 new posts by fellow members a day, especially when they are timely non-spam efforts. But that nightly 300 card clickfest was ridiculous.

Lyndi’s blog Nice2All.com is featuring a great overview of the entire CMF Network for those interested in learning about the various features offered to bloggers. In addition, she has a contest going for anyone who subscribes to her blog by email. The prize is a 30 day ad on her site. If the winner is a member of CMF Direct, she will double that amount. I will also throw in 5000 impressions on the CMF ADS network if the winner joined the free CMF Directory. Remember, it’s a non-spam blog directory. But CMF ADS will alllow you to run any ad, even affiliate ads, as long as the landing page is approved. (No scams or offensive pages)
That’s not the end of what’s new!
Lot’s of little changes over the weekend at Turnipofpower.com. It’s all too easy for bloggers to get stagnant and set in their ways. Here’s the complete list in the order they were completed.
Entrecard widget removed and replaced with a CMF Direct image. Anyone who wants to download this 127x150px picture to link to CMF Direct is welcome to do so. Please no hot-linking to the image. I can make one in any style if a reader seriously wants one but hates the look of this one. This isn’t any sort of organized protest, but a few of you asked for a graphic.- “Ask The Turnip” feature has been removed and replaced with the CMF CHAT widget on the bottom right sidebar. Using the technology of Google Friend Connect, all sites in the CMF Network wishing to share the same conversation can do so. Very twitter-like.
- Comments RSS location changed as suggested by Experiments in Cyberspace. That’s the beauty of new users, they give you first impression feedback. You can see a graphic of the changed location below.

- Created an OIO Publisher Social group, and joined another. Right now my group has only one blog, but I’ve wanted to test this feature and never had the time to play with it. When I review OIO Publisher I’ll let you know how useful this group feature is. Any CMF Direct member who owns OIO Publisher is welcome to join and test it with me.
- Coming Soon: Because of the 14 hours spent Sunday coding CMF Promote, I didn’t have time to finish all the changes around here. This week I plan to have a nice replacement for my old droplist, and some special offers for the holidays that will earn you a turnip t-shirt and free advertising.
Awesome work! I’ve submitted to your OIO Group for test purposes.
I think the CMF Promote idea is just marvelous. Well done. Over and above the blogs in my reader I will definitely make a point of visiting the sites on this feed as often as I can. This is a great way in which we can all help one another.
Looks like you have been productive in your post-Entrecard life.
I’ll go and join your OIO group.
Let me see what i can do.
I just signed up. I look forward to reading other people’s posts. I’m really excited – actual content and real traffic. Thanks Turnip!
Saw this (CMF Promote) earlier, and I’m very impressed. What a cool idea: a community feed. You keep spoiling us with new stuff like this and it’s gonna be impossible to resist removing that yellow drop button for those of us who still have it.
New (and useful) features? No empty promises and absent minded leadership, just straight up results? Nice work!
Looking forward to your review on OIO also.
Wow!!
Great collection of feeds on cmf-promote…
Did you do the planet (.py)?
Moreover, how about throwing a tutorial on checking the rss thing ? (I know it sounds so trivial but understanding it is more beautiful than writing a blog post.)
Dai: Every feed there is a member of CMF Direct. There are currently 60 members, so 60 feeds checked every 90 minutes for updates. Glad you guys like it.
BRILLIANT!
I have to say Turnip that I am liking this network more and more. Thank you for putting in the time and effort to get this going.
