CMF ADS is proud to announce an open beta for anyone interested in trying out it’s new service called CMF DIRECT. The beta test is open to any blog written in the English language. I inspect all blogs before activating their account, so no spam, porn, made for AdSense, pop-ups, or sites that I find annoying in any way please. To sign up, visit the CMF DIRECT website. But first, what exactly is CMF DIRECT?
In my recent article Grading Entrecard On Its 1 Year Anniversary, Laura from thegrrl.com said the following:
I’d like to see EC do more with the categories, let EC bloggers find others in their interest area and geographic area.”
So I got to thinking… Why not? I could do that! So I sat down at the computer and began designing a way for publishers to categorize their blogs in a manner both bloggers and advertisers could appreciate.
What is CMF DIRECT?
- It’s a free searchable directory of blogs.
- Each blog has a 125×125 image to represent it.
- The image appears on a profile page for that blog.
- You input direct links to your Entrecard profile, OIO Publishing page, Performancing Ads page, Project Wonderful page, CMF ADS, or even your own direct sales page. That could even be your “About” page.
- Advertisers can search your blog by category, country, keywords, and available advertising.
- It’s open to the public, though each blog is personally approved. Don’t even waste your time spamming it.
- Once your profile is created, you may link to it as a central page to direct your advertisers.
For example, say you wanted to find all the blogs in the “sports” category that support both Entrecard and Project Wonderful advertising. No Problem. First you select either the sports category or “all listings”. Then on the following screen you refine your search by checking off “Project Wonderful” and “Entrecard”. That’s it!
Obviously, there are very few blogs on file yet. But I hope to change that with this announcement. Anyone can create an account, but all listings get manually approved. Your profile page is search engine friendly, not that directories are known for boosting pagerank.
For reasons I will explain in a future post, I can’t open CMF ADS to the general public. However, I can offer CMF DIRECT as an alternative. After all, Entrecard may not be around forever. This way everyone has a searchable database to find their old online friends.

Third – I just signed up. I am a huge fan and I am eager to support your endeavors. I don’t think I was able to figure out the URL for CMF Direct field. But those are details that I am sure will get worked out.
Tokyo Tom: Yes, customizable user pages are something they should have done about 10 months ago. But we aren’t trying to serve the same community function as Entrecard. In the event of a real Entrecard emergency, feel free to visit CMF DIRECT and await further instructions.
Buzzybill: The field that says “direct” is for people who sell ads on their blog directly to advertisers. For example, a person who writes on their about page “Contact me to purchase a 125×125 ad” can link to their about page there.

Not sure if my lunatic commentary and storytelling will ever qualify, but there’s no harm in making a submission. I’m the guy that got picked last in baseball because I should have been playing football instead. Maybe I won’t make the cut in this game either, but I’ll take a swing anyway. What the hell.
If Entrecard is the business of “business card” dropping and leaving your calling card with potential readers and advertisers — then CMF Direct is the ink on that card that’s providing all the important info, integrated into a single (and searchable) source.

Turnip – ok, I mean the field that says “CMF ADS URL” = I know what to put in the Entrecard field, but I can’t see what goes in this one.

CMF ADS URL is for those members of CMF ADS. Since there are only about 20 of them, just ignore it.
What happens if I have more than 1 Project Wonderful Ad Box? -_-
Deimos: Once the potential advertiser knows you offer Project Wonderful Advertising, they are more likely to know how to book the other ads on that site. You can also spell that info out in the description. Or link to your own about page that gives more examples

Yet another great Turnip idea. How you come up with all these ideas beats me. Nice one.
Susie, I will change that to allow 2 sites each and see how that goes. You should now be able to list 2 sites under one logon. If it’s not a problem, I may increase that number. The issue is that as the number of blogs a person own increases, usually the quality suffers. In the end, I approve each listing manually as being spam or not.
