After one day of NCAA basketball play, the Turnip has taken a commanding lead in the standings. Correctly predicting an outstanding 14 of 16 games correctly, it should only be a matter of time before I am declared winner of my own contest. Tomorrow is another day of play and the tournament is far from [...]

In a major failing and breach of trust with it’s users, Entrecard has announced some unusual rule changes. No April Fools joke, this appears to be Entrecard’s last ditch attempt to save itself. (Their last investor was seen packing his suitcase). For those who are not on their mailing list, here is a list of upcoming [...]

This tutorial is for those WordPress users who would like to add a simple image to their sidebar. Sure, you could just add a text box widget and type in the HTML, but let me show you how I do it. For this example I will use a 250×250 graphic advertising my CMF Ads March [...]

Is it ever too early to start March Madness? This year Turnipofpower.com will be sponsoring an NCAA college basketball bracket contest open to all CMF Ads Members. The NCAA tournament doesn’t actually begin until March 19 & 20, but it’s never too early to get things organized. No knowledge of American college basketball is required. [...]

One question that really annoys me as a CMF Ads admin is “Why doesn’t anyone advertise on my blog?” The same reason people don’t hire you for a job. You still don’t get it, do you? You showed up for the interview and the company hired another person. Blogging, like life, isn’t always fair. Getting [...]

You receive a comment or email saying ” I love your site and want to exchange links with you. I’ve already put a [...]

It’s not just publishers who are signing up for CMF Ads; advertisers are also welcome to join. Most of you may have nothing of your own to sell, so why not sell something for another company? It’s a lot simpler to run an ad on an existing blog than to create a new blog for a niche. Ads [...]

At first glance the Top sites by advertising value in the CMF Ads control panel may appear confusing. Also known as the “Bargain Ads” page, these statistics are simply for traditional marketers who like to advertise on a “cost per ad view” basis. Just because a site has a price of 1 cr per ad, doesn’t mean [...]

In this age of identity theft, who posts their private data online? Certainly not me. I’ve already had my share of death threats from exposing 3rd World spammers pretending to be accountants from Massachusetts. (Right, zeny888?) So why would a social network run by Harvard grads not understand such a simple concept as the right to privacy. [...]

Even experienced WordPress users may suddenly notice their blogs loading slowly. Despite properly installing WP-Supercache, something just isn’t right. In the case of turnipofpower.com it turned out to be too many objects. Yep, my blog was bloated! Just check out the before image below as measured by Pingdom Tools. 9.4 second loading time, 54 total objects, [...]
