Stolen content is a serious issue in the blogosphere. Particularly for me, since my job at CMF Ads is to approve and deny every blog submitted. If most of the content is original barring the occasional image or video, I let it slide. (I’m talking to you, funny cat people). If the majority of content is stolen, [...]

Imagine my surprise when I received the following email message today:
Hi, Turnip of Power.
Turnip of Power (d4lilr) is now following your tweets on Twitter.”
I did a doubletake. So I’m following myself? Checking the account of this person showed that they had already been suspended. In that short time they had managed to follow 13 people. [...]

I just got another of those dreaded automated direct messages thanking me for following them on twitter. I didn’t recall adding this person. In fact, I hadn’t added anyone in over 3 months unless I personally knew them. Could someone have found a way to force me to follow them though some back door? Not likely. Someone thinking [...]

Early this morning I was able to duplicate the missing Spike issue on CMF Ads. First we ruled out members disabling javascript. Those using ad blocking software would not normally be accounted for by most analytic programs. Then we ruled out server error, both the clicker and advertiser were being properly counted. Turns out it [...]

According to my dashboard at CMF Ads, in under 3 days CMF Spike sent it’s 50th visitor to my blog. Below is a chart of the traffic received from Spike. Considering it was Christmas Eve, a time traditionally dead for blogging, I consider these results quite promising. In addition to the 35 Spike visits, there were also 12 visits [...]

One thing we pride ourselves on at CMF Ads is doing things better than the competition. We heard the feedback that campaign screens were too messy and that stats were meaningless if nobody understood them. People wanted a simple yet effective way to deliver readers to their blog at a low cost per click. At [...]

Google Wave is the latest communication tool from search engine giant Google. Think of Wave as a combination instant messenger and discussion forum. Right from launch the application interface has a familiar feel. There is an inbox, a list of contacts, and an area containing “waves”. A “wave” is a discussion on a topic, hence the [...]

It was with mixed emotions that I woke up today to learn that Entrecard was sold. Sometimes a leader is SO bad you begin to enjoy their nonsense. Graham Langdon was Kim Jung Il with an asshat, running his online version of North Korea into the ground. The following is the main announcement from the Entrecard [...]

Seems like many users of WordPress received a nasty surprise when upgrading from an older version to 2.8. While looking for answers I found plenty of bad advice. Even more annoying are the WordPress mods rushing to close discussion on threads working to discover a solution. Luckily, I found a fix through trial and error. As [...]

Former Entrecard Mod Lee Doyle received a 4 year jail term for sexually abusing a young child. Mr. Doyle was an organizer for the group “Fathers 4 Justice ” and ran the now defunct leedoyle.com, along with the “U-Drop/ I Follow” Entrecard group. (an idea which he admitted to stealing) As for why he received the maximum sentence: [...]
