If you are reading this, you probably are not a hardcore Entrecard dropper. Hardcore droppers are those that burn through a minimum of 300 drops per day. Some drop 300 cards from multiple blogs. That leaves little time for actually reading posts. Sick? Maybe.
How many of these Entrecard Olympians are out there? Phirate approximated there to be 260 of this breed. Far fewer than I expected; I thought maybe 600-700 people dropped that many cards. Why is that number important? It means if you are a new member, and you drop on the right people who reciprocate from the inbox, at a minimum you should receive 260 cards dropped back on you. Multiply that x5, and you get a popularity rating of 1300.
It’s also significant because these people tend to drop around midnight of the new dropping day. Why? Because they want other hardcore droppers to return their drop before they finish their allotment of 300. So if 260 hardcore droppers all pleasure each other with drops, that leaves a mere 40 cards left over for everyone else. By the time some johnny-come-lately wakes up and drops his cards, a hardcore dropper can’t drop on him that day even if they wanted to.
The critical number is 300. Once the number of hardcore droppers goes over 300, does the 301st person get zero drops for the day? No, for a variety of reasons. While most of the hardcore people drop at midnight, others space their dropping out over the day. Also, some droppers like myself drop from a list. This means I drop on you even if you wake up late or don’t drop on me that day. Not the most efficient method, but I benefit up front by increasing my RSS numbers, Technorati favs, or the occasional affiliate signup from those on my list.
Even if there are 400 or 500 hardcore droppers, they will spread out among each other. The longer you wait until after 12:00am to drop, the less likely you are to get a reciprical drop from the hardcore crowd. But is that bad? Not at all!
It all depends on why you joined Entrecard. If you want readers and commenters, you might be better waiting until the olympians have finished for the day. That way you drop on those who are new, those who take the time to read, and those who are in your niche. You certainly won’t achieve a popularity value of a hardcore dropper, but was that your goal when you joined?
So why do the hardcore Entrecard droppers drop cards like they do? Several possible reasons:
- They are competitive and want to be at the top of Entrecard.
- They sell credits and want to maximize their time spent dropping.
- Their blogs are pay-per-post blogs, and the added traffic allows them to earn more per post.
- They are marketing blogs, who get judged by Alexa ranks and such. Also more traffic may equal more sales.
- Their sites are “made for adsense splogs”. This is actually counter-productive for these sites, but not everybody understands internet marketing.
- They made a site with the intent of selling it and Entrecard provides a nice amount of daily traffic.
- They are addicted to dropping and just can’t stop!
Now in my case I always drop 300 cards a day. In addition, I usually drop another 150 from other accounts. The 300 I can knock off in 20 minutes if I want. Usually I stop to comment on a few blogs and in the forums, so the process takes about an hour. The other 150 I can do anytime or skip them altogether. How about you, are you a Hardcore Entrecard Dropper?

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a Trackback **********I’ve been trying to drop 600 per day, but it hasn’t always worked out. I usually end up with around 500-550. It just takes up way too much time. I’ve also been missing out about once or twice per week and just dropping on favorites from one blog.
I have around 80 favorites which I drop on daily, the rest of the 600 end up being random blogs, hopefully most are from my own categories. I’ve been dropping out of my inbox lately as well, but I do the day before the current one so I don’t leave anyone out (I’ve only had over 300 drops on me two or three times, and I was able to get them the next day).
So yeah, I guess I would be a hardcore dropper. Though, I may give it up soon. Hell, I’ve been thinking about just not dropping at all anymore. I’m starting to find that the benefits of dropping vs. spending the same amount of time doing other marketing getting less and less.
(Sounding like an old man) Back in the day (January or so) dropping meant something. More people participated in contests, recip dropped and commented if you dropped consecutively for a while. Now, it seems like no one cares anymore. I think they are getting spoiled by all the HUGE contests. Also, more people are selling their credits…
No way am I hardcore. Rather laid back with a good day being 60 or 70 drops, usually spread among 3 blogs.
I look at it as much more social enterprise and for that E-card works out awesome for me.

There were many things different back in January. Few people even knew there was a 300 drop limit. There was no inbox as it exists today, so you had to make your own list of 300 sites. Nobody was selling credits, and people loved contests to get more credits. Then the inbox spoiled things for people. Though if it hadn’t, the reciprical dropping lists would have. I talked with Phirate and he has some definite plans to better control the economy. But will the 300 drop limit ever change? Many of the hardcore 260 are also the most active in the forums, so we will see. One stat I don’t have is the breakdown of the 260 by country. It’s funny how even though ads cost more now, people haven’t stopped paying higher prices for them. So in a way, the Hardcore Entrecard Droppers are making everyone else richer as well by inflating ad costs, assuming they are also advertisers.
I’ve been dropping 300 more over the summer because I have more time. I drop because the ads are getting much more expensive but you’re right, it is just making things worse.
Gee, I feel so lazy. My dropping tends to happen when I read something I like. Entrecard, to me anyway, lets me find interesting blogs, and points of view I wasn’t aware of. Some of what I find scares me, but if it’s a “grabber”, i.e. I can’t stop reading, I’ll drop a card. I really had no good way to see what was out there until Entrecard, and I hope to see more bloggers with talent join up.
Maybe Entrecard could do more to add freshness to its community, although I don’t know what.
I dropped entrecard a few months ago. Rather spend the time writing articles.
i used to be addicted to dropping but after sometime the “dropping novelty” wore out. but while I was at it, the most I dropped was 200-230.
now I’d rather write more now. keeps the readers coming and I just regularly drop 150 for my main blog from my bookmarks, my inbox or from my niche.
I’m new to EC and I find it very time consuming to drop cards. I get discouraged sometimes because some people don’t reciprocate. Now, like you, I have a list of those who drop on my blog. I also take time to peruse and read if there are interesting posts in blogs I visit and comment if needed.
I admit, I got a little bored half way though your post and went to drop three more cards.
I might manage 120 on a good day, but so many blogs don’t update at all that there’s no point in reading or commenting on most of them. I might spend 3 hours dropping those cards, my internet connection isn’t the best.
Yes, I am a hardcore dropper. I have two blogs signed up, and usually will drop 600 per day, if I have the time. The new toolbar is great, but it is quicker to open 30 tabs in my browser from my entrecard bookmarks.
so seldom for me to reach 300 drops a day..i enjoyed reading others blogs…i learned from them…=)

Hmm…
I think after the rise of Entrebar, the days of list dropping are gone (???) BUT however, reciprocation of 300 may not still be washed away. Because you can drop 300 into “inbox”.
Why the number 300 is important?
Because the movie 300 was super hit, and they were impressed with 300 that could stop all the evils …
(Meanwhile I am looking up on what sites did you commented on last few days.)
I guess by definition (I read the full post and am commenting) I’m not really hardcore. I do drop 300 per day on my primary blog each day. I try to hit as high as possible on the other two (yesterday was a 900 drop day). So, I guess you could say I’m damned serious about it.
I’ve also found that I get higher than usual traffic on those days that I drop just after midnight eastern. So, I guess your theory holds true there. But I also tend to mix it up in how I hit my inbox (not always starting from the front). And I often switch accounts and refresh the pages on blogs that come up after my 300. I don’t always get my full inbox, but I make every effort to do what I can.
Cheers!
yeah, I’d have to say I’m numbers 1 and 7 on your list of reasons why, though I don’t always drop 300 a day.
I used to drop like crazy from multiple blogs for the purpose of hopefully selling the credits, but once they took a nosedive in value, that’s no longer a priority.
As far as recipridropping goes, I have my own system. I don’t drop back at a 1:1 ratio as I like to cover as many people as possible. I’ve had a few occasions where I’ve gotten 300 to 500 drops, so it wouldn’t be right to keep covering the first 300 then not dropping back on anyone else. So I’ll drop 300, then make tabs from my inbox of the blogs I haven’t yet dropped on for the rest of that day plus the following day. So over a two day period I can cover 600 unique bloggers who’ve dropped on me.
how do u drop 300 in an hr??it takes ard 2-3 hrs for me…..
I’m pretty sure I fall into the hardcore category. But my dropping is pretty sporadic as far as the time I drop between my accounts. So hardcore yes, but I’m not too sure I fall into the reasons you listed though.
I must not be, after all I stopped to read and comment. That being said, I do drop 300 daily.
I drop 300 per day on two different blogs (one being very new) and I try to stat my droppings around 11pm my time (midnight where ever the dropping Gods start this marathon) but usually I cannot/do not finish even one of the 300 sets. I always dropped off my bookmarks but that was pre EC’s new toolbar. I’m still waiting on some additions to the toolbar in order for it to do it’s best but it’s getting there.
I didn’t however know about dropping right after the counters reset in order to get the prime droppers - interesting.
Thanks
Some days I’m hardcore, some days I’m not. I have a couple of lists and I go through those. But now with the Entrecard Toolbar, I’ve been burning thru those 300 drops per blog…so I guess I just graduated to hardcore.
I am a hardcore dropper and have hardly ever missed doing my 300 drops a day. I tend to drop from bookmarked folders of 10 sites and regularly check randomly to remove non reciprocating sites. I still comment and manage to complete my drops and do a few comments within an hour and a half daily. Because of work I tend to do half my drops in the morning and the rest when I get home.
One of these days, I’ll be back to the “consistent, regular dropper” status. School vacation throws me for a loop…sigh.
But there is no way I can ever be a hardcore dropper. I think the most I’ve ever dropped in one day was about 200…and that took the better part of an hour!
I’ve been consistent on dropping 300 daily on the first and second quarter of this year.
I “was” a hardcore Entrecard dropper but had to stop for several weeks because of PC, Internet problems, work, etc.
I have my own list which I use and update it from time to time removing the dead links and sites with no entrecard widget on it.
I had a lot of time dropping when I started back in December while I was on vacation from work.
Now I just go over a list I made and then to my inbox.
Rinse and repeat for other my accounts only if I have extra time.
I’ll never make it to the power dropper status - my connection speed is too slow. I’m lucky to get 75 drops within 3 hours. And, I stop to read and comment if it strikes me. This is one of the blogs I read!
I also drop in the wee hours, but only because my sleep schedule is all whacked and my connection speed tends to be faster at night (aircard, and in the middle of nowhere). I drop from my Inbox too.
I would say that I am not a hardcore dropper. I personally do about 100-150 drops a day. I do the 15-20 blogs that I read and the rest are just random blogs, along with the dropbacks from earlier.
I am one who does usually stop and read the latest blog post at a minimum. I enjoy reading what other people have to say and I hope that they read what I have to say as well. Great Post by the way.
BSA: The midnight dropping isn’t theory, it’s fact. That’s what the hardcore people do.
To those who drop off a list: Don’t worry, Phirate will soon allow you to point the toolbar to your own folder of bookmarks. That way you could put 300 bookmarks into a single folder and open as many tabs as you want. List dropping is far from dead!
For those who got bored reading an 8 paragraph 600 word article: Sorry, but that’s the way I write. While I always seek to improve my writing, don’t expect any drastic changes in my style. Normally I try to be direct and to the point. I realize you might be used to 200 word blurbs that say nothing, but thats’s not my style and never will be. Long comments are also welcome, btw.
This was one of my favorite posts by you. I’m fascinated by the 300/day people. I think Competitive is the one trait found in them all.
I think the most I’ve ever dropped in a day was 50. Usually I average about 20 to 30 a day. I’m amazed that people actually have the patience to drop on 300 different sites.
I am averaging 200 per day but with comments so those who are doing 300/day with or without the batch system are hardcore droppers and they miss out on some pretty interesting blogs.
I use batches to load 15 or 20 pages at a time. Your blog is in my batches, so here I am commenting. I didn’t know about your list, if I had found your option I may not have made these batches. Loads of people have followed my trail back to the list.
Like you I do over 300 a day, max is 600.
I drop, I read, I am not a hard-core dropper. I feel my visits are to “friends” and I want to see what is new in their lives. What I would like on my blog is some hard core Diggers, ad clickers and commentors.
I also would like to pay a million dollars in taxes each year.
Carol: I wish I had that million dollar tax problem as well. Instead I barely scrape by. I think between 3 blogs I could probably make close to 1k a month off the blogging full time if I wanted to. Better to hedge my bets and do some real work on the side too.
Nope, I’m not a hardcore dropper. I’m lucky if I get 200 drops a day, LOL.
I really enjoyed the post. It actually made me laugh a little that people might be so competitive that they want to be on top of Entrecard.
I am not a hard core Entrecard dropper. On weekends, I may get up to 200 a day, but I find if I’m giving any attention to content at all, 300 is beyond the time I have to devote. Usually weeknights after work, after eight-year-old dinner and homework, I’m lucky to get 50-75 drops done, mostly reciprocal on blogs who dropped on me. And until the entrebar, I’d read and comment on my usuals without dropping sometimes. Meh. I’d rather have more comments than hits on the meter anyway.
you’re one of the top droppers in my two blogs, and I’m happy enough to be included in your routine.
i once aimed to drop 300, but could only do half. takes too much time and I always stop by to read and/or comment. The slow internet connection is to be blamed too.
I usually get my 300 in everyday… I guess its a little bit of a few of your reasons. A little addiction, I like the traffic it brings (even if I don’t make much money off of it), I also like seeing my site near the top of the popular lists, but hey just because I’m a hardcore dropper doesn’t mean I don’t comment…
Keep up the good work!
I have an addiction to EC and I also have an addiction to reading blogs. Put those two things together and I find myself spending most of my day on the computer, not getting anything else done, much to the dismay of my family. I need serious help!
I do drop 300 cards a day (at least, I try to) and I drop from my inbox. I drop through out the day because I do have to make an attempt to keep up with my job of being a good mom and wife. I’m asleep at midnight.
I don’t doubt your theories, I just am not in the mold I guess.
I’m an addict, I need help.
I have never exceeded 200 drops per day. On a not busy day, I could manage 100+ since I like to stop and read first but on a busy day, I could only do less than 10 drops and still reading them first…
Cheers!
I used to drop actively, now I only drop when I feel like doing it.
Im a hardcore dropper but i take my time to drop, I start as early as possible in the new day but wont finish dropping in less than 4 hours, The reason is because i read and comment on many blogs, Im usually receiving 400-500 drops on me per day and i will reciprocate on about half of them, The other half is for new traffic. As far as addicted to dropping goes, Who could possibly have time for it? these people need a real job, And why drop to make credit to sell? 1000ec $2 or $3, Even if you can manage to drop 300 in 30 mins its going to take almost 2 hours to make $2, Thats $1 per hour, Sweat shops pay more than that. I thought Entrecard was all about getting traffic to your site, Not a money making scam, And these people making ec just to sell should be kicked out of entrecard, They arent a part of the community.
I am. I drop 300 every evening at the change of the day, but not really for any of the reasons you have listed, nor in the way the typical power dropper does. It takes me a bare minimum of one hour and as much as two because I do scan a lot of posts and stop to comment when I feel inspired to (like now!) I do it late at night because that’s the only time I have relatively uninterrupted to be able to focus on what I am doing, and I don’t like to be sitting at my computer all day when hubby or granddaughter are around.
I also spend a lot of time searching out new blogs to drop on, and only have a core group of a few dozen that I drop on every day, and even that is subject to change. I’m looking for consistent, quality bloggers to drop and comment on; racking up points is secondary for me.
I do get a rush from watching my blog becoming increasingly popular, that and sharing my love of photography with others, and maybe making money at it someday would be nice.
Selling the credits is always part of another scam. Like creating made for adsense sites. If you dropped 900 cards in an hour, you could probably get 600 cards back. Not to mention another 1000cr in ad revenue and contest credits, paid stumbling, and so on. That 2500cr you could sell for $6-$8. If you are a kid in a foreign country, that $50 a week might go very far.
I used to be a hardcore dropper and then I realized all of my spare time was spent dropping cards on blogs. I was not listing stock I had for sale, blogging or doing any of the other activities that earn money online. Now I’m lucky if I get time to drop 50 a day, sometimes it’s more, but it’s usually a lot less.
You know, I just don’t think about it that much… when EC started, I was a more serious dropper, but I really have no method to it, I usually start with the people currently in my cue for advertising, and go from there. Some days I drop 0, other days 100 or so, but I think very few times have I pushed it, just to get credits.
I don’t really care that much about credits. I drop more to scan blogs, and try to leave comments when something catches my eye. I also look at others advertising and blog design.
I love it though, I think it’s great exposure, and has introduced me to a ton of blogs I otherwise would not have run across.
You all have me in the dust. I drop a number of cards when I get rolling in the morning, but I tend to read many of the blogs I drop on, so I have never achieved the 300 mark - ever. My hats off to you who have it down to a science or have the time.
I usually drop at midnight because that’s the only time I can do that…and I only have 300 drops during weekends but not all weekends so I am not a hardcore.
I can’t refrain myself to leave a comment, that takes time and I can’t do what others do..they can drop 300 in 20 minutes..it takes me 3 hours lol!
Hi, my name is Jimmy, and I have a problem.
Addicted but seeking help. Luckily I balance the addiction with liberal reading and inconsistent commenting.
Ouch! I was once like that.Lol! But I’ve figured out that it’s quite selfish. Kinda annoying right? WHY DON’T YOU STOP AWHILE AND CARE TO READ! I only drop a hundred a day. Sometimes I stop by to read.. sometimes I don’t. If I find the post interesting then I’ll pause to read.. just like what I’m doing now. The best part is, I’m leaving a comment.
I even added you to my blog roll. Good day to you!
http://havenlei.com
http://leidyundercover.com
300?!! Dream on! I’ve done it once or twice, tops. I always start at my inbox and then just kinda drop at random and blogs I like. I spend WAY too much time reading and commenting to ever be a power dropper. I actually have no problem with the people that do this … just cannot be bothered myself. Cheers!
I drop far fewer than 300 a day. When I first joined I dropped a lot more, but now I only drop on blogs that I like or that interest me and my friends blogs. There’s no point in dropping on a blog that has a billion ads and no content… I usually can’t find the drop box on those sites anyway.
There is another point I would like to bring up, that’s unrelated. I get a lot of nasty comments that my drop box is “below the fold.” I told members that it’s because it looks better there… I’m more concerned about how my blog looks than how easily people on entrecard can drop on it. My widget is not even close to the bottom of the page either… It seems the type of people who say that are these super droppers.
I used to drop 300 a day but no longer. My bandwidth at home doesn’t support it (actually the husband’s WoW addiction doesn’t) and work gets mad at me if I do.
So now I use the entrebar and just casually read blogs that I drop on. go figure.
I considered myself a moderate dropper usually getting between 100 - 150 drops in a day..but..that is because I stop frequently to comment. I joined to get serious blog traffic. While I appreciate the drops, my main goal was to attract enough serious bloggers to pay attention to my content. I think I’ve been fairly successful at that.
However, with the new EC toolbar - not only am I able to comment on blogs - I can now hit that 300 mark since it doesn’t take me as long any more to drop. I always start with the drops from my inbox..then blogs from my genre…then just surfing the EC blogs. I always make it a point to comment on topics that pique my interest. Afterall, the best way to get regular viewers and commentors is to leave comments!
Good post.
I’m going to have to say, hell no I’m far from it, I just got up to dropping about 100 a day and that is like a stretch for me….lol. I’m try so very hard to get up there in the top three of my category, I’m number 7 now. I’m going to do it one day, the thought of dropping 300 cards scares me. I’m only getting dropped on about 50-70 a day so thats not so good either. ehhh, I’m going to try and do a list of people to drop on and see how that works.
How do you drop 300 in 20 minutes, please tell me that so I can do that. It takes me forever and a day to drop. It’s time consuming…
I drop 600 cards a day and take about 4 hours to comment on those site I like (around 20 - 30 comments a day). I’m not sure im in your hardcore category. But, 4 hours doesn’t look like hardcore to me.
I’m a hard core dropper. The reason for it I guess is closest to the last one on your list.
I like starting a projects and then”finishing” it. And that’s what happens when I hit my 300 drops in a day.
I suppose if there were no limit to the number of daily drops, I would probably drop less than 300. The challenge of finishing it for the day wouldn’t quite be there.
I do skim the blogs I visit. If a post looks interesting I’ll actually stop and read it. Many blogger don’t update daily, so that speeds things up.
Generally I drop about 200 from the RSS widget on my blog, my Inbox, and the rest are on my advertisiers, top droppers, places I may want to advertise, some clicks on Entrecard widgets on blogs, my favorites folder, or my drop list. I tend to mix it up a bit.
I open about 50 tabs at once and then go do something else while they load.
It’s a sickness I tell, ya…
Ouch! I admit I used to be a hardcore dropper. But now I try not just to read articles but comment on them as well.
hello…
this post is very much helpful on my part and it made me know entrecard more.
thanks!
Am I a hardcore dropper? Well, I suspect that by EntreCard’s metric, I am. I’ve dropped 300 cards every day (with the exception for ten days when I was on vacation), since early June.
However, by your metrics, I’m probably not. I stop and read posts. If you are reading this, you probably are not a hardcore Entrecard dropper.
I don’t do all my drops immediately after midnight. Although I do note that midnight, seems to be midnight for people on Eastern Coast of the United States, which would make it around mid day for our far east friends.
Likewise, the possible reasons for being a top dropper don’t really fit my blog.
I suspect that what makes someone a hardcore dropper may be much more complicated that people think.
I can’t really drop 300 per day without getting a headache after the first 100. Until I get a faster laptop (which seems unlikely at the moment), I would have to concentrate more on building up a comment base.
I think there was one or two days when I reached 100 drops a day, when I was on holiday and really didn’t have anything to do in the really early morning hours, when the internet connection was faster than usual. I don’t think I’ll ever see the day when I can drop 300 from one account or even 100 from all three (or was it four) sites I have the entrecard widget on. I didn’t even know that the time of day when one dropped mattered.
I signed up for entrecard because it was a fun way to promote my blogs, and to find like-minded bloggers. Every now and then I do a sprint and drop like a runny nose (yuk) but I always get “sidetracked” by actually reading the blog posts (gasp!) and leaving a comment.
I am addicted to dropping, but as I am now retired with nothing much to do during the day, it helps pass the time. However, I always take time to read and comment while I drop. I start around 10 a.m. and finish around 6 p.m. Help! I probably need Droppers Anonymous.
Good insight. I consider myself a “serious dropper”, however I make time to read posts and comment, too.
Maybe I just have too much time on my hands…
I drop on blogs I like, blogs I naturally come across, and when I’m exploring categories on entrecard for something new.
Anyway, I bought a tshirt from you on entrecard and I love it. My sister wants one too so she’ll definitely be starting an entrecard account so she can get one!
I’m addicted!! I admit it. I drop 300 every day. I am trying to fine tune my 300 though, as I would like to get better popularity ratings.
#8 on your list could have been - they are new and want to make as many drops as they can cause they think that’s how it works or just start with a lot of enthusiasm.
I drop casually. I did my time as a newbie hardcore dropper. Nowadays I go through my inbox every few days and catch up with them all. Other than that I have favourites, the blogs I’ve found through EC or people I knew before and have gotten to join up too. I also…. *shocker* click on the ads and go from blog to blog to blog and card drop along the way.
Laura: Quite true, new people do get addicted quickly. Having 300 people look at your blog sure beats the 3-4 family members who currently look at it. When I was new I started off slowly, then became addicted later when I saw things were working better than expected.
I definitely am hardcore, I drop 300 everyday on 2 of my blogs and usually on my 3rd. I also read a lot of posts and stop to comment. I just have a low of free time. I drop by selecting category, all - this gives me the top entrecarders in each category, I figure these are the most active and I will get the most recipricol drops this way.
Hello Mr. Turnip. I liked the article a ton. I am not a hardcore dropper. I am new. I do not have all the time in the world to add myself to every list etc…
This is my plan. I would be interested in what you think.
1. I have 2 blogs I am pushing on entrecard.
http://neswsports.com and http://homework4dummies.com
I am trying to push NESW Sports the most. My plan is to follow all drops on both, and then use all the advertising on NESW sports. That should put NESW Sports at or near the top of the Sports category before too long.
What do you think?
I think that’s an excellent plan. I have 4 blogs, but only concentrate on this one for popularity. It’s more important to participate in the forums and comment on blogs than it is to drop 300 cards from each account.
50 to 100 drops a day at most. I’ve done 200 once but thats only because I was bored out of my mind. i dont know how people can drop 300 a day! Thats just nuts.
I started with Entrecard a week ago. I dropped 300 a day since I started. I use my drop inbox, everyone who dropped at my site, get one e-card back. So I drop 250 from my inbox and the other 50 cards I drop while placing my ads.
Entrecard is a waste of time and it won’t be long until you newbie bloggers desperate for traffic figure out that the traffic you’re getting from all this card dropping is useless. They don’t take the time to read or comment on your posts and they sure as hell are never going to click on anything that might make you some money.
Personally, when I see an Entrecard banner or even a Performancing Ads banner the first and immediate impression I get is that either the blogger is new and clueless on how to really generate traffic or desperate to make money and after I get that impression it’s going to be very difficult for that blog to every make a good impression on me.
Ventibate: Sounds controversial! Too bad we already had our own version of controversy marketing blow in and out a few times.
You are right about the banners, seeing the performancing ad on top of your site made me think “new and clueless” for sure. You need to talk to Sam Freedom I think and get a marketing plan.
Your response, although rude considering that I was simply expressing my opinion, is accurate and I will be removing the PA banners asap. We tried them as well as Entrecard on our site for a week as an experiment but quickly realized they weren’t for us. The only way to find out if something works is to try it.
I think once bloggers try any of these options for a while and find out that it does nothing for their bottom line (unless they’re happy with a few bucks a week or some useless traffic that only stops by to drop off a card, they will drop them. Anyone that analyzes what it costs to buy EC credits should realize just how expensive that traffic is and that there are much better and cheaper ways of generating targeted traffic.
Nothing rude, I was just experimenting with your business model. “Shocking” comments on higher page ranking blogs leads to… a page rank 6! Congratulations. You also answered my other question when you returned here. Most commenters dropping by to spam a comment or two never return. You clearly track where you have commented. Like a hunter checking his traps. Excellent job. I welcome you to comment here as long as they continue to be thought out comments.
As for EC traffic being expensive, it takes me 30 minutes to go through my drop list. The ad prices are expensive, so I don’t buy many ads. I’ll be doing a very critical look at EC myself soon. As your high pagerank shows, you certainly do succeed at the effort you put in, but commenting also takes effort.
I do about 150 drops with one blog and try to get 70 or more on the other blog. I am in CA and do many drops between 9 and 10 pm my time since it looks like at 10 pm they switch over to the next day. Would be nice if they advertised which time zone this changes. I also do a new blog post about 11:30ish my time so that droppers and readers can read that and leave a comment.
I never know entrecard will be so bloody. and around us another psychopath dropper.
Terrible.
Yup, its official!
“A dedicated dropper with a hint of addiction”
Well, tomorrow I will probably leave about 25 drops on my 3rd account to spread to new droppers that I don’t get to on my other two.
I’ve got my own bookmark list and everything, and I’m thinking about installing the toolbar tomorrow.
Yikes! This Entrecard dropping strategy seems pretty complex and I can’t imagine myself ever becoming a hardcore dropper. For a few reasons.
1) I don’t EC credits are worth all that much
2) Who wakes up at 12am to drop cards? Don’t these people have normal jobs??
3) By dropping this fast you are missing some better SEO opportunities that can be found by perusing the other blogs for a moment and leaving comments.
1. The value of the credit has varied from over $15 per 1000 to $1 per 1000 and anywhere inbetween.
2. Some people live in differrent timezones. Not everyone who uses the internet lives in your town.
3. Commenting for SEO is exactly the same as dropping cards, just a differrent route to the same goal. But since you probably only comment on dofollow blogs, arent you missing some high quality blogs?
