While checking out the Entrecard competition last night, I came across a very interesting article on the Atniz.com website on how to Block Ads and Earn More. The theory behind it is to not allow Google AdSense to show ads for spammy sites and sites that pay little per click. The company providing this service is called Adsblacklist.
Adsblacklist is in beta. That means it’s currently free for those who sign up. Later they plan to charge for their 2 premier services and continue to offer a free one as well.
Here is how it works:
- Go to their site, sign up, Log in, and add your blog URL.
- Click on “Generate Filter List”, select one of your blogs, and enter keywords related to it.
- Check both the MFA (made for ads) and LCPC (low cost per click) boxes.
- Click “Submit” and then select and copy the entire list of URLs.
- Log into your Google AdSense account. Under the AdSense Setup tab, click on “competitive ad filter”, paste the entire list there and click save.
That’s it! A few hours later you should see higher quality ads on your site. A similar process can be used for Google AdWords, Yahoo Publisher Network, and Chitika eMiniMalls.
Does Adsblacklist fully conform to Google Adsense Programme Policy & Terms and Conditions? According to their FAQ:
“Yes. We have researched both the Terms & Conditions and Programme Policy and have found no issues relating to the use of AdsBlackList to populate your filter list. Please email Adsense Support if you require official confirmation. Please be aware that Google have no control over which sites appear on AdsBlackList. AdsBlackList.com is in no way related to, or affiliated with Google Inc. “
Does it work? I think so. Since installing it I have averaged over double per click what I previously earned per click. I don’t see how it could hurt your earnings as long as there are ads being displayed. Anyone else giving Adsblacklist a try?

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a Trackback **********“New”? This is just about the oldest method in the book. And honestly, it only works if there is only a select few pages that have the low paying ads… and even then it probably won’t work. Why? Because if only a select few pages have them and those pages aren’t getting much traffic it doesn’t have much effect on AdSense prices. And if the high traffic pages are the ones with low payout, you should do away with AdSense all together.
Gary: I guess people need to publicize the “oldest methods” because I never heard of it before. Nobody else I talked to had ever tried it either.
I hadn’t heard of this either. I’ll have to take a look. Thanks for the tip, Turnip!
I guess I just hung out at DigitalPoint for a long, long time.
Yeah it’s an old method, but of course as with every post/link told, some know some don’t
I already did this some time ago, but unfortunately didn’t see any increase on my earnings
But doesn’t hurt to try anyway
I admit I don’t hang out on digital Point. I never enjoyed it. So instead of saying “new method”, it should say “New Service Uses Old Method To Try And Increase AdSense Earnings”.
It’s new to me, but then again I still call these things web logs.
That’s really cool. It’s not that I don’t want those kind of ads on my site for earning reasons (because I’m not against earning) I don’t want them on my website because a lot of the sites that advertise in the make money niche are scammy and trashy and I don’t want my readers to think that I identify myself with those kind of ethics.
thanks for sharing, will also share with my readers.
Will try and see if its work.
Actually, I think I may have heard about this before and I think Google allows a max of 250 blacklists or something like that. I wish they let you blacklist keywords or whitelist some as long as they match the theme of your blog.
This “old” method is new for me. Being a relatively newbie to AdSense, I for one, sure do appreciate this post.
I have just now completed these steps, so we’ll see in a few hours the new ads.
yep it works! and how does it work: you will get more of PSA’s as there arent much ads left for your niche site. way to go………………
Funny, I’ve yet to see a public service ad. By any chance, are you one of those “made for adsense” sitemakers?
