BlogUpp! is another traffic exchange service like Entrecard or Spottt, with a few differrences. Unlike Entrecard which requires effort, or Spottt, which has rules about where to put the widget, Blogupp! is as simple as a program can get. There is no signup, simply go to http://www.blogupp.com/ and get the code. The company takes a snapshot of your page and reads your RSS feed. That’s one more reader for your Feedburner widget! Mousing over the widget shows an excerpt from your last article. Cool idea.
What makes BlogUpp! different?
- No registration and no account required
- No email and privacy exposure
- No ad submission and no efforts
- No animation and annoying ads
- Cheat-proof and fair sharing
- WordPress platform and alike friendly
- Targeted readers reach
- Best de facto exchange ratio (10:9)
Bottom Line
For the effort it takes to set up and install, it’s worth a try. I can’t say I’ve noticed any traffic at all from the widget. They say you can track hits by looking for adv.blogupp.com as a referrer, but I couldn’t find any in my logs. Like ADsflip, I like it because of the synergy with Entrecard. Entrecard generates the pageviews, and then my website will appear on other sites using BlogUpp!. The problem is that you can put the widget anywhere, and every site I checked had the widget buried at the bottom of the sidebar. Still, it doesn’t hurt. Unless you have something better to put on your blog, it’s so effortless I’d give it a try.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a Trackback **********haven’t heard of this service before, and am willing to try it. thanks for the pitch.
HOWEVER, i think placing the widget at the very bottom is not of good ethics and not fair for the rest of the community; it is based on “show it to your readers and I’ll show it to mine”, as far as I understand. I imagine where I’d want my blog to be shown though blogupp on other blogs, and wouldn’t definitely want it to appear at the bottom.
so, let’s show respect to each other, and benefit of this cool new thingy!
Thanks for the heads up on this traffic exchange site; we will definitely have a look. It does sound very simple, which is great.

Hey Turnip. I went to the site and I am trying the new widget. We’ll see what happens. You were right. It is very easy.
Cool! I’ll try it someday, lately too busy to drop EC and even update my blog
If it’s good enough for turnip, it’s good enough for Mommie…

John, The only problem is that there are only so many widgets that can be put at the top. Between blogrush, spottt, entrecard, and bloguppp!, who gets top billing?
I noticed it on another site a few weeks ago and added it to mine. You are right it was easy to install and just leave to run on ots own. As for the traffic it might generate I will have to wait and see.
Hey Turnip…I had been seeing the BlogUpp widget around the blogosphere, and kept thinking, dang i need to check that out…thanks 4 bringing it back to the forefront of my to do list!
Thanks for sharing that, I’m going to check it out, and I really like the no sign up feature!
I have to say… I’m curious to try it. Feeling a little bit of entrecard burnout at the moment and their extremely frequent outages are only beginning to get to me. I’ll have to remember to give it a try when I get home from work today.
The fact that many of you noticed it but never clicked on it tells the whole story. You see a picture of a website and think “yep, it’s a blog alright!”
Well actually I do have something better - like my new bumber sticker on Stir the Cauldron (it reads: This blog is 100% Zombie Proof) hehehe couldn’t resist, there were so many cool bumper sticks, I managed to stick to just one though
But this sounds easy enough, thanks for the tip. I added to both blogs. It’s free, no sweat, so can’t hurt
Rose: Maybe you could use a bumper sticker rotator plugin. Then you could also display your “I brake for zombies” sign.
I have an Entrecard Question. When I go to my Dashboard and click the “drops inbox” I get to the page fine but the drop down box that is supposed to filter the sites by “already dropped” and “not yet dropped” does not work.
Any suggestions?
Also, I’m uising Internet Explorer. Is there any way to highlight a couple of rows of links and have them open in separate tabs using one command?
Thank you for your time!

Shelly, You are right, it’s broken for me too. I’ll report the bug right away. Might be an IE7 thing only.
I knew about this before, but I thought it’s as useless as Spottt can be
Why would someone click your site just because they see a screenshot if it?
I have been using it for awhile now and I can see the traffic on my site has increased. I have, “feedit” and it shows where the traffic is coming from an I can see where people have viewed me from BLOGGUP.
..and it doesn’t get in the way..so why don’t folks try it?
[Why would someone click your site just because they see a screenshot if it?]
Well, if that screen shot is attractive enough for you to move your mouse over it, the latest post’s title will be shown and if it interests you, you might click on it. :p
I installed the widget last week. I saw my first visitor from BlogUpp this week.
I figured I’d give it a try since there was no sign up to get the widget. Nothing to lose on this one…hopefully.
If you have room for the widget, use it. I was getting 5-10 extra visitors a day from almost no effort.
Thanks for checking out these sites and bringing them to our attention Turnip. There’s so many companies to choose from that it’s hard to know who to choose, especially when you’re picky like me, and what to make the right choices.
You are literally the greatest~ :))
Have a great week-end~

I have had this on my blog for a while now. I haven’t noticed any traffic to my site from it but I will keep using it to see what happens.
I can’t remember how I came across it, but I love the fact that I could use it without having to jump through hoops to sign up for it!
I have it about half way down my side bar as there is nothing to gain from having it up at the top. I need room for my Entrecard widget anyway!
Sarah, I checked yesterday and saw 3 hits from blogupp! Not great, but not zero either. Remember, some blogs get 2-3 readers a day when they first start out. It’s a zero effort system, all it requires is a committment to ad space. I don’t want to promote or put down social networks solely on the amount of traffic they generate.
