I have 3 Google search pages on this site.  Why?  It’s a slow but steady money earner.  So how much can a low traffic site expect to make?  Let’s look at the numbers.  Turnipofpower.com is now 6 months old.  In that time I earned roughly $35 off of 800 searches.  That’s $35 towards the $100 you need to earn from Google before you get paid.  Search provides 31% of my total Google income.

Here is the 3 part strategy I used.   First I added a search box at the end of the comments.  My thinking is that people that arrive from Google are likely to leave by using Google.  Let’s face it, if they get to the bottom of the page, they have to do something.  Hopefully they search.

Secondly, I have a site search on the toolbar that displays the search results using my site, not Google’s.  It’s a cool trick easily accomplished using the MightySearch WordPress plugin.  Check out the results here: Search Page

Finally, I have a work-safe Google Search Page. Ever see someone use Google Search as their home page? I sure have. Politely suggest they use your search page instead. This is a nice way for people to support your site without cheating Google. (Please feel free to bookmark and use this search page) You know the type, those friends and relatives who blindly click your ads over and over in an attempt to secretly help you.

For you experts, you can check out a cool trick I almost got to work. If you go to the search engine drop down box in firefox, you will see Turnipofpower.com offered as a choice now. Pretty cool! It almost worked, but not quite.
