Let’s follow the bouncing Mr. Met here. First Met’s don’t re-sign Catcher Paul Lo Duca. Then Mets re-signed catcher Ramon Castro to a two-year contract. Next Mets trade their steroids embarrassment Pitcher Mota for catcher Johnny Estrada. Finally, the Mets traded Lastings Milledge to the Nationals for catcher Brian Schneider and outfielder Ryan Church. Everyone excited over these .280 hitting catchers?
Of course not. Given the choice, every Met fan would choose to keep the LoDuca/Castro tandem. Then trade Milledge and Moto for any half decent starting pitcher. Apparently its more important for Omar Minaya to first remove the 2 players who embarrassed him most. Seems Loduca and Mota were black-eyes to his Latin American dream team’s reputation.
As a fan, I want an exciting, young team full of potential. Not aging superstars and has-beens. Please, no more Alou’s and Julio Franco’s, even for one season. So far the Mets have looked bad with their off-season deals 2 years in a row.
